Open Call: Standing. Soundscapes of Resistance

In times of persisting conflicts, ongoing wars, rampant violence, systematic oppression, human rights violations, the rise of nationalism and extremism, climate crisis, ecological destruction, and a disorientation of morality and ethics, we stand and resist.

The third MediSouP electronic and electroacoustic music festival, ‘Standing. Soundscapes of Resistance’, extends an invitation to composers and sound practitioners to submit fixed-media electronic and electroacoustic music works in response to the aforementioned challenges.

How do we stand and resist against these destructive and disorienting directions the world has taken? How, through our art, can we protest, address, reflect upon, discuss, express, communicate, suggest, and envision in response to these multifaceted crises? Without restriction as to the form or shape these works may take, we invite you to submit your compositions for consideration to be a part of the MediSoup 2024 ‘Standing. Soundscapes of Resistance’ festival, scheduled to take place in Limassol at the end of April.

Submission Guidelines:

Composers and sound practitioners from all ages and nationalities are welcome to submit their fixed-media electronic, electroacoustic, or acousmatic music works.

Submitted works should have a duration ranging from 3 to 9 minutes and must be in WAV file format at a 24-bit, 48kHz sample rate. Acceptable formats encompass stereo, 4-channel, or 8-channel surround configurations. All submissions should be a response to the theme ‘Standing. Soundscapes of Resistance’.
